There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that contains many luxuries on top of the gambling den, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
