• Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
