• Cambodia Gambling Dens

    [ English ]

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that contains numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
